Who Am I?
Hi, I’m Cody. I’m a Game Design B.S. graduate of Full Sail University with a specialty in Technical Game Design.
I’ve been in love with two things since I was a child: creating and video games. Originally, I was studying to become a computer engineer. However, I felt this career choice wasn’t fulfilling or enjoyable, so I decided to reconsider my options. This is when I decided to join the video game design field, and I can positively say it was one of my best decisions. I’m currently focusing on learning video game design as a whole, but I find the most enjoyment out of gameplay design and level design.
When I’m designing, reviewing, or just playing video games, I consider the core gameplay to be the most important part of the game. Many aspects of video games don’t have to be perfect for users to enjoy the overall experience. For example, games like Minecraft, Terraria, and Valheim take a very pixelated style with their graphics, but these games are still beloved by many fans. This is because the core gameplay of these games are well defined, stable, and enjoyable.
When I’m not designing or playing video games, I enjoy working on my computer, graphic design, 3D printing, and spending time with my friends and family. Some projects I’ve proud of outside of video game design are my time in FIRST Robotics, during which I helped design and build several unique and interesting robots, some of my graphic designs, which have been used in university clubs at my previous university, and my personal computer, which is a custom build I’ve been slowly upgrading over the past six years.
